SEO is a Marketing Strategy local businesses can use

It’s how your website gains a higher rank in search results when people search for a product or service you offer.
It works ALL THE TIME, not just when you stop paying – like with Ads.

sIMPLE VERSION OF HOW seo WORKS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimizations.

Search engines scan your website for clues as to what your website is about. These search engines will then use this information to determine how relevant your business is to a particular search term or phrase.

When someone searches on internet, search engines pick what websites best fits the search and deliver pages of results. The results are called search result pages or SERPs. Where your website shows up on the SERPs is considered your RANKING for that term.

If we give the search engines good signals as to what our website is about and what you have to offer – they’ll deliver your site in front of that potential customer higher in the results for relevant keywords.

If a plumbers website shows on the top of the search results for something like “leaky faucet” there is a great chance most people who search will call. And using SEO we have a good chance of this happening.

It’s one of the best marketing strategies you can implement for long term business success and sales.

seo website traffic is important

If you’re website is ranking well in search engines that means your site is doing a good job at explaining who you are, what you do, and how you can help. And when search engines show your site to searchers – they can become customers.

More Traffic = More Potential Customers

But this is also the same for other types of traffic, such as when you pay for ads on social media sites, or places like Google and Bing. More traffic can mean more potential customers. But unlike when you pay for ads, organic traffic doesn’t stop when you stop paying. Doing well with SEO means your traffic will keep climbing – and it’s not as expensive as paying for ads.

The Goal is More Organic Traffic

The goal of most websites is to gain as much organic traffic as possible. Even if they pay for ads or have other ways to bring in potential customers. By using SEO your website can increase what keywords or phrases it shows up for in search engines.

For instance – back to the plumber – not only do we want to rank high for “leaky faucet” but we’ll want to gain traction on: Plumber, Plumbing, Toilet Repair, Plumbing Services, Leaky Drain, and a whole host of other key phrases that someone might use when they need a plumbers service.

Anytime someone might type a search phrase similar to any of these your website has a good chance at getting a customer.

And attracting the right traffic

Much like paying for ads, SEO allows us to target certain types of customers when they are looking.

You can post to your social media accounts all day and maybe, you’ll get a customer – or maybe someone will remember your posts and call when they need something you offer. And this too is a marketing strategy, but it has to be the right time and fit for the company you have.

But how often do you remember a post on social media from a plumber when you have a leak in the house? More often than not you’re jumping on our phone to find out who can fix it the soonest. And those plumbers are showing up high in organic searches.

A Facebook Page IS NOT a Website

A Facebook page is good to have but it’s no substitution for a real website. Your website is your best sales person. And it’s something you can control.

When someone searches for your business name you want to be able to show them who you are and what you can do. A Facebook page doesn’t convey this easily. Don’t make your customers dig around for info.

This goes parallel with my copywriting services. The message on your online profiles is VERY important – it’s the most important part of your business. Without good messaging customers will have a hard time figuring out if you can help them. Again don’t make them dig.

Get great visibility for your business with SEO

If you invest in SEO you’ll get great visibility for your business. And this is what you want – more eyeballs seeing your business and checking out your products and services. The more people you can attract the better sales and revenue you’ll get.

SEO mixes in with paying for ads, social media marketing, or any other forms of marketing. If they see an ad on social media and then search for your business to call at a later date – you’ll want to show up on the search page – that’s SEO.
